| Description | Since its beginning, the Nunavik Community Justice Center has consulted the Inuit to provide its services based on their needs. Estate settlement quickly emerged as a priority in Nunavik due to the volume of unsettled estates, the complexity of its logistics, and the near absence of available resources. We have dedicated our efforts and energy to build a Center that not only assists Inuit with estate settlements but also trains our local partners and raises awareness among community members about the various issues related to these matters. We, therefore, promote justice access for the Inuit through legal information, support, and guidance through services offered in complementarity with existing resources, particularly in: *Estate settlement; *Name change/correction to the Directeur de l’État civil; *Recognition of certain traditional adoptions by the Directeur de l’État civil; *Claim compensation to IVAC and SAAQ in cases of a beneficiary's death; *Declaratory judgment of death. |
