Developmental Disabilities Activity Centres
Community-based day programs that provide social and recreational opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities who generally have acquired most basic self-care skills, have some ability to interact with others, are able to make their needs known and respond to instructions. The programs use social and recreational activities to help participants develop and maintain basic functional skills, though most will remain in the program on a long-term basis rather than transitioning to more independent settings.
Developmental Disabilities Behaviour Management Programs
Community-based day programs for adults with developmental disabilities and/or dual diagnosis who are unable to access other day settings because of their behaviour problems. The objective of these programs is to help participants modify their behaviour and develop the functional skills that are required for success in an adult development centre or an activity centre.
Developmental Disabilities Social/Recreational Programs
Community-based day programs that provide training in community integration and self-advocacy specifically as they relate to recreation and leisure pursuits. Participants are generally adults age 18-22 with developmental disabilities who are still in school and desire an after-school program or are older than age 22 but are not working or are working part-time.
